Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre

Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre (ローゼンメイデン・オーベルテュー Rōzen Meiden Ōberuchiyūre) is a two episode TV Special produced by Studio Nomad.

Description

Ouvertüre is a brief prequel to the events of the TV series, it is set at some point during Träumend (most likely between episodes six and seven) and answers critical questions about Suigintou's past, particularly those pertaining to the rivalry she holds with Shinku. The majority of the two-episode special is told by Souseiseki and takes place as a flashback in the nineteenth century London.

Production and Airing

Rozen Maiden: Ouvertüre was aired on December 22 and 23, 2006 on TBS in Japan.

Ali Project once again lends its talents for the opening song. As with the series, Kukui sings the ending theme.

Continuity Note

Ouvertüre like the other Rozen Maiden anime productions produced by Studio Nomad deviates greatly from the events of the manga timeline.

Trivia

• Ouvertüre is German for Overture
• The Rozen Maiden light novel Rot-Schwarz published in 2014 is also focused on the past of Shinku and Suigintou in Victorian London but it's narrative is more fitting for the manga continuity.
